In an unfortunate turn of events, UFC lightweight Arman Tsarukyan found himself in hot water after throwing a punch at a fan during his walkout at UFC 300 in April. The altercation, caught live on the UFC broadcast, occurred after the fan directed a disrespectful gesture towards Tsarukyan, who then reacted impulsively by throwing a punch.

As a result of his actions, Tsarukyan was subsequently suspended and fined by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The suspension initially stood at nine months, but it can be reduced to six months if Tsarukyan agrees to participate in an anti-bullying public service announcement. Additionally, he was slapped with a $25,000 fine for his behavior.

Future Fight Eligibility

Despite the suspension, Tsarukyan’s eligibility to compete for a UFC title later in the year remains intact. With the reduced suspension, he is expected to be able to return to the octagon by October 12th. Tsarukyan, coming off a victory against Charles Oliveira in a No. 1 contender matchup, is rumored to face lightweight champion Islam Makhachev in late October in Abu Dhabi.

In a statement released by Tsarukyan’s manager, Daniel Rubenstein, it was conveyed that Tsarukyan appreciates the NSAC’s handling of the matter. They expressed eagerness to collaborate with the UFC and NSAC to produce an anti-bullying PSA, in hopes of reducing the suspension and allowing Tsarukyan to vie for a UFC lightweight title by the end of the year.

Interestingly, Tsarukyan has not faced any legal repercussions for the punch thrown at the fan. Despite the physical altercation, it seems that the focus has shifted towards resolving the issue internally within the UFC and with the NSAC.

While the incident involving Arman Tsarukyan and the fan was regrettable, it serves as a reminder of the importance of sportsmanship and proper conduct. The subsequent suspension and fine handed down by the NSAC are part of the disciplinary measures in place to maintain a level of professionalism within the UFC. Tsarukyan’s willingness to participate in an anti-bullying PSA demonstrates a commitment to learning from his actions and making amends for his behavior. Moving forward, it is hoped that this incident will serve as a learning experience for all involved and reinforce the values of respect and integrity in the world of professional fighting.
